CULTURE SHARE: Jewish and Israel Parade NYC - part 1
Due to the Pandemic, most of the parades were unable to take place in NYC and even some international students were unable to return for studies until the pandemic was more under control. After three years away, the JCRC-NY Celebrate Israel Parade has returned! This year’s parade will took place on Sunday, May 22, 2022. As we continue to celebrate different culture’s, faith’s, and traditions in NYC and globally, we are sharing this coverage of the parade with you. We are excited so many were able to attend, and that NYC is reopening! We are also excited to support our Jewish friends here in NYC and stand in solidarity with them in their faith! We look forward to sharing other future parades and supporting other faith groups and traditions expressed in them as well. Additionally, as our organization continues to help Pope Francis and the Church prepare for WYD2023Lisbon, we were filled with joy and excitement to see so many youth coming together in their faith as we continue to re-open globally, from the pandemic! You give us much hope for WYD2023Lisbon! (#WYD2023Lisbon)
For the Parade’s many Marching Groups, Cluster Groups and Floats, the Parade is a culmination of a year-long Israel educational effort (including many Jewish schools, synagogues etc) using a creative theme. Each Group or Float works with the Parade staff to develop a creative presentation with colorful banners, costumes and props in a show of unity and pageantry.
