5 Things You Can Do Together As a Family For Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples—it’s a great opportunity to celebrate love as a family! Here are five fun and meaningful activities to enjoy together:

1. Family Movie & Treats Night 🍿🎬

Pick a heartwarming movie, make homemade popcorn, and enjoy Valentine’s-themed snacks like chocolate-covered strawberries or heart-shaped cookies.

Make it extra special:

  • Build a cozy fort with blankets and pillows for a "Valentine’s Movie Cave."

  • Create personalized snack trays with each family member’s favorite treats.

  • Choose a family-friendly movie with a love or kindness theme (e.g., Coco, Up, Enchanted).

2. DIY Valentine’s Cards & Crafts 🎨❤️

Get creative by making handmade cards for each other or for grandparents, teachers, or friends. You can also create a love jar where everyone writes notes of appreciation for each family member.

Make it extra special:

  • Use family photos to create unique, heartfelt cards.

  • Write "love letters" to each other and read them out loud during dinner.

  • Try fingerprint or handprint art for younger kids—it’s a sweet keepsake!

3. Bake & Decorate Together 🍪💖

Spend the day baking cupcakes, cookies, or a special Valentine’s cake and decorate them with pink, red, and white frosting, sprinkles, and edible glitter.

Make it extra special:

  • Host a friendly "bake-off" challenge where each family member decorates a treat, then vote for the most creative one.

  • Package extra treats in cute bags and deliver them to neighbors or loved ones.

  • Play fun music while baking and have a mini dance party in the kitchen!

4. Outdoor Adventure or Picnic 🌳🥪

Take a family walk, hike, or bike ride, then enjoy a picnic at a park with heart-shaped sandwiches, fruit, and warm cocoa.

Make it extra special:

  • Pack a basket with heart-shaped sandwiches, pink lemonade, and chocolate-covered strawberries.

  • Bring a Valentine’s scavenger hunt checklist (find a red leaf, a heart-shaped rock, something pink, etc.).

  • If it’s cold, have a bonfire with s’mores and hot chocolate.

5. Game Night with a Love Twist 🎲💕

Play board games, charades, or trivia, but add a Valentine’s twist, like playing for small prizes or answering fun family-friendly "What do you love?" questions in between rounds.

Make it extra special:

  • Create a “What I Love About You” jar where each family member writes a kind note for others to read at the end of the night.

  • Make a DIY "Cupid’s Bingo" or "Valentine’s Pictionary" with words like "hug," "candy," "heart," and "friendship."

  • Give out small prizes like chocolate, stickers, or handmade certificates (e.g., “Best Hug Giver” or “Funniest Family Member”).
