2022 Spring Arts Season: The Grenchus Foundation @ St. Patrick's Cathedral ~ The Kilgen Organ Concert Series feat. Grant Wareham - January 30th 2022
A Dayton, Ohio native, Grant Wareham began organ studies with Jerry Taylor in 2007. He earned his BMus at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Ken Cowan, graduating cum laude and with Distinction in Research and Creative Work. While at Rice, Grant served as Moseley Memorial Organ Scholar at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Houston, and then as Associate Organist at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church. Winner of both the First and Audience Prizes at the 2017 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition in Hartford, CT, Grant has appeared at the 2017 OHS Convention, and as a semifinalist in the 2019 Longwood International Organ Competition. A champion of new music, Grant premiered the first organ works by multiple student composers at the Shepherd School of Music, gave the American premiere of The Assisi Concerto for organ and chamber orchestra in 2019, and will give the public premiere of a new work for organ he commissioned from Dr. Karim Al-Zand next month in Washington, D.C. Grant earned his Master of Music degree at the Yale University Institute of Sacred Music and School of Music, where he studied with Jon Laukvik and Thomas Murray. During his time in New Haven, Grant served as Organist and Choirmaster for the Episcopal Church at Yale, as well as Organ Scholar at Christ Church New Haven. He currently serves as the Organist and Director of Music Ministries at Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the new home of Aeolian-Skinner Op. 1132, originally installed in 1950 at Church of the Redeemer in New Haven, CT. ----- The Sunday Afternoon Kilgen Organ Recital Series features world-class organists from all over the world in concert. The recitals are free and open to the public. They start at 3:15pm ET unless otherwise noted. The concerts are streamed live here.
