St Patrick's Cathedral Easter Mass and NYC Easter Bonnet Festival

The New York City Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival is an annual tradition, with roots tracing back to the 1870's, Parade-goers celebrate the day in colorful, one-of-a-kind ensembles, but the highlight is usually the incredibly imaginative Easter Bonnets. All are welcome at the family-friendly event, so it’s common to see kids and pets join in the fun. In fact, some of the most creative costumes have been family or group ensembles! The festivities fill all of 5th Avenue from 49th Street all the way up to 57th Street. However, our preference is to hover around St. Patrick's Cathedral, where many of the participants pose for photos at the gorgeous church and discuss their amazing outfits with admirers. The festive event exemplifies New York City's fun-loving, creative side.

Whether New Yorkers are transforming themselves into mythical creatures or costuming their pets, the volume is always turned up to the max. Outfits that wowed ranged from fully handcrafted ensembles to witty, choreographed themes. Mad Hatters of every age proudly strutted their stuff in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the rest of the world was there to enjoy it.
