Spending Time with Nature

Do you ever get so caught up in your work that you forget what day it is? Do you have moments where you feel like you are glued to a computer or phone screen 24/7 so that you can get your work done and accomplish all that you think you need to accomplish? We all have these moments, but what most people forget is that over-investing yourself in these areas and in these ways can lead to burnout and to your spirit feeling it does not have what it needs.

In these moments we encourage you to unplug and spend time with nature. Nature has natural replenishing qualities that enliven and soften your spirit, so that you can do all the things you do, and handle all the things you need to handle. Since it is replenishing it erases those moments of burn-out that you feel. By spending time with nature, you let God enter into your existence and flood you with grace, beauty, goodness, and joy. So the next time you feel overwhelmed, or like all you ever do is work, take a step outside, and spend time with the free gift of nature that God has given all of us. Take in the natural color palette that God uses to create beauty in the world and in your life. Give yourself permission to have the downtime you deserve, but also the downtime that God wants you to have. And ENJOY IT!

God did not create us to be in an ever going rat-race that sees no end in sight. Take time to be present to God’s beauty every day through the nature that surrounds you and allow yourself the space and time to heal from the chaos of life. Give yourself that downtime that is needed, to just exist with the other elements of the earth, and to really take in the goodness and blessings that flow from them. Be rejuvenated by the air, but also by the hues of bright colors of flowers, the emerald green of the grass, the gold of wheat, and the strength and sturdiness present in the trees that not only grow around you but blossom and flourish with their divine energy and flowers. Take in the water that rushes in a waterfall and spills over rocks, molding and shaping the earth. Take time to spend with the ocean, listening to the lapping of the waves, while the waves remove whatever impediments, grudges, hurts, sadness, and frustrations you are still holding in your heart.

Lastly, take a minute to give praise and thanksgiving for the nature that surrounds you, and for all the blessings God bestows on you everyday, just by the sheer presence of nature. Thank God for God’s beautiful masterpiece and creativity, and let that creativity inspire you to renewal, freshness, creativity and newness of life. Bring that newness and freshness to your life, your family, your work, and all that you do. Knowing that God is blessing you, just as God has blessed the plants to grow, the ocean to ebb and flow, and the waterfalls to abound.

Unplug and take time to enjoy one of God’s greatest masterpieces: the Earth.
